Jessica Dalsant, principal flute of the San Paolo State Symphony Orchestra, was born in 1972 in Trento (Italy) where she began her musical education and received her flute diploma at the Conservatory. Her training was mainly completed under Giampaolo Pretto, though she also received valuable suggestions and encouragement from Cambursano, Bàlint, Nicolet, Pahud and Zoon. In 1993 she became a member of the Italian Youth Orchestra and played under Luciano Berio, Gyorgy G. Rath and Daniele Gatti. As section leader she has worked with many orchestras (Rome Opera, Venice La Fenice, the Toscanini Orchestra of Parma, the Teatro Regio of Turin, Ensemble “Zandonai” of Trento). During the 2003-2004 season she was assistant principal flute in the Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia (Spain), while also starting to collaborate as Principal in the Orquesta Sinfonica de Tenerife.
As a soloist and with various chamber groups she has given concerts in Italy and abroad and won several prizes at Italian and international competitions, in particular the "Prix Special de la Fondation Sorato" at the International Competition of Geneva (2001). She has recorded a CD, Le Carneval des Animaux, for the musical magazine Amadeus and a CD dedicated to Riccardo Zandonai. |
