This composition is the third number of the Bach & Blues series.
The prelude is written in a baroque binary form (A-B) but the thematic material is strongly polyrhythmic. The fugue follows the classical rules too but in the middle section there is an episode where the tenor, alto and soprano saxophones play a sort of jazz improvisation.
